My name is Asher Tures, and I am a Georgia-based student. My interests are in art, art history, and computer science and AI, which I plan to utilize to help my communities grow. Specifically, my focus is centered on disability studies and scholarship, tied to my personal life. I aim to make events accessible through my community leadership, and aim to make art accessible to those historically disprivileged, both in terms of representation and ability to exist in the museum space. I also enjoy helping to organize and execute community events, especially when it comes to minority groups. I believe heavily that communities rely on volunteer work as of now, and thrive on the passion of those working to make the event.

I am a senior majoring in Art History with a Minor in AI Science, with a current intended plan of getting a graduate degree in Art History (specifically with a focus on the modern and contemporary), Digital Humanities (to further my studies in relation to the intersection between art and AI, and how that can be ethically utilized), or Education. I also work at the Center for Digital and Visual Literacy (CDVL) and the Creative Innovation Studio and Workroom at Agnes Scott.

In addition, I am the current president of Ascend, a queer organization on the Agnes Scott College campus, along with being an advocate for accessibility on campus, both in terms of physical accessibility of the premises and the accessibility of classes and resources to attend to mental disabilities. I am additionally attempting to train another cohort of advocates to continue the work I am currently doing to make change on campus and in everyday life.

Finally, my larger project is developing disability studies and art history in two main ways: making accessible technology for art fields (with accessibility in this case meaning two things: access to those with various forms of disabilities, and access to those with limited resources of cost prohibitions), and developing on the current theoretical and contemporary studies of disability in art history. The reason I am pursuing both is for the present and for the future. My present goal is the accessible technology, making the world around me accessible in small and manageable ways that I can witness unfold in real time, and my future goal is that my work extends beyond me. I cannot let my legacy be limited to one action, I want people to be thinking far beyond my time, and to use me as a point to develop from.
